What is the Chamber of Commerce?
The Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce is an incorporated nonprofit business organization. Governed by a Board of Directors elected annually by its membership, the Chamber employs a staff to execute the day-to-day operations and programs to ensure policy set by the board.
What is the purpose of the Chamber of Commerce?
To ensure the interests of its membership through advocacy, programs, services, and community leadership, as well as to act as a unified "Voice of Business" to other local, state and federal constituents.
Who funds the Chamber?
The Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce is funded 100% by its membership. The annual budget is approximately 50% membership investment (dues) and 50% program revenue.
Who are eligible members and what are the eligibility requirements?
Chamber membership is voluntary and open to any business, professional or organization employing a minimum of one person. Renewable annually, the Chamber serves 400 members in the Greater Gardner Area.
Is the Chamber a department of the city?
No; The Chamber is a private organization completely separate from the public sector. The Chamber works to encourage a healthy public/private partnership in order to collectively promote economic growth.
What communties does the Chamber serve?
Ashburnham, Barre, Gardner, Hubbardston, Templeton, Westminster, and Winchendon. Membership is also accepted from any business outside the Greater Gardner area upon application.
Why should my business join the Chamber when others do not?
There is no single organization more appropriate to address the issues and concerns of the business community in our area. Joining the Chamber is an investment of support for the program of work and the many services and activities the Chamber nurtures.
Are all members involved and active?
Paid membership is active enough for many members; however, annually the Chamber recruits dozens of volunteers to contribute their time and talents to supplement staff and committee development. All members are encouraged to participate at regular meetings and programs when possible.
