Annual Awards

Each year, the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce presents awards to members of the Greater Gardner community for their accomplishments. These awards are presented at the Chamber's Annual Meeting, held in May. Each award is listed below, along with the criteria we look for in successful nominations.

ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 19, 2010.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD CRITERIA

This award is presented to an individual in the Greater Gardner Area who has, over a period of time:

  • Consistently demonstrated excellence in professional and community leadership;

  • Made, or is making, significant contributions to the welfare of the community through involvement and participation; and

  • Given freely of their time and energy for community betterment, contributing to positive economic growth and stability for the area.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD CRITERIA

This award is presented to an individual, group, or organization in the Greater Gardner Area who/which has, during the past year:

  • Made noteworthy accomplishment(s); or

  • Exhibited outstanding initiative, inspiration, leadership and organizational skills which produce significant results directly benefiting the community and its citizens.

BUSINESSPERSON/SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD CRITERIA

This award is presented to a businessperson or small business owner in the Greater Gardner Area who operates an established business and during the past year has:

  • Experienced a growth in number of employees; and

  • Experienced a growth in sales and or unit volume.
Innovativeness of product or service will also be considered as criteria, though this is not considered mandatory.

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT AWARD CRITERIA

This award is presented to a firm, businesses, or organizations in the Greater Gardner Area which has, during the past year:

  • Improved its physical facilities;

  • Upgraded its operation to provide better service; or

  • Taken other positive and constructive actions resulting in area beautification and/or creation of more pleasant surroundings and an improved atmosphere which reflects favorably on the organization itself as well as enhancing the Business and Professional Standards within the community.
